The Roulins in conversation with Edvard Munch

Painter: Jerzy Lisak
Status: sold
There was a time, many drafts ago, when the film was entirely told by Postman Roulin and Armand to a strange man only seen from behind. In that draft the story was told through flash-backs, and at the end we revealed that the Roulins were talking to Edvard Munch in Café Terrace at Night! (Munch did travel to the south of France the year after Vincent’s death, and knew of, and was influenced by, Vincent’s work, but didn’t, as far as we know, go to Arles).
